aren’t just any lemons, they are what could have been the last of the prized lemons of my sister Theresa’s Lemon Tree! You see, in Carolina we rarely have a deep freezing ice storm, especially in the coastal area of SC where she resides, but the evening before […]

still life is almost like a fiesta, it is bright colorful, sassy, hot and spicy.  Though some of the neutral colors and the blues may be a little calming the reds are exciting and the lines throughout the Gerbera Daisy plant excitedly dance, the same is true with […]

painting arrangement of flowers, apples, mangos, bananas, tomatoes  and peppers is a painting that makes me happy when I look at it.  It’s direct and fresh and for me it projects a sense of joy!

painting was done totally with the palette knife, I toned the canvas sketched out my drawing first with a brush, and then put all brushes away and completed the work with the palette knife. Back and forth with color upon color, thick impasto layers!

work is one of a series of works I have painted featuring some of my collection of salt-glazed pottery from Germany.  I love the rich blues (our family calls them Barnette Blue’s) and the textures of the ceramics.  This particular painting is a larger work as is the crock itself.

is another painting in the collection of salt-glazed pottery series (from Barnette Blues). From a high vantage point, this one is different from the others in it’s point of view but it has the similar subject matter.

was our first wedding anniversary in Germany. Shortly before we celebrated it, we hand selected a beautiful pitcher in the salt-glazed factory to be specially designed for us.  It was helpful to know people who worked at such places so early in our tour of Germany!  Many years later, I decided to […]
